It’s panda birthday month! Tian Tian wasn’t feeling August so much (it’s her usual quiet period during the reproductive cycle), but luckily Yang Guang was happy to come out an celebrate – in his usual happy way enjoying some bamboo! Both pandas are now 20 years old and still looking ever so young.

Yang Guang was very happy with the good Summer weather this year – he loved sitting out to enjoy his bamboo and it was great to see this from him finally after only seeing him indoors for most of the first half of the year. He picked a great spot to sit in for photos, and these are definitely some of my favourites that I’ve taken of him^

And in June Tian Tian was also up and about when I visited, she even went outside and I was able to get some pictures through a little hole in the fence! These ones are definitely among my favourite pictures I have of her. She definitely has been much more relaxed in the new enclosure the past year or so and it’s been great to see more of her.

I hadn’t been seeing Yang Guang quite as active recently, so I was happy to see him outside in June 2023 on my one visit – even if I only got a couple of photos and mostly of his rear^ He’s still a cute panda, and I already have plenty of pictures of him from my July visit to share soon!
