I bought an annual pass to Zoo Berlin ~ P A N D A S @ Z O O B E R L I N September 2025

On my last trip to Berlin in May, I couldn’t resist buying an annual pass – for zoo only it was 63€, and with a visit costing 25€ (on the day of the visit), it really just made sense, so with this 2-day visit in September, my annual pass had already paid for itself after our 2-day visit in May! So, time for another ‘Pandas at Zoo Berlin‘ post – this is my 5th trip to the Zoo, and my second time seeing Leni and Lotti^ On the whole, nothing has hugely changed with the zoo since my last visit, apart from that you can now buy a Leni and Lotti souvenir 0€ note, so let’s just get into the photos:

Jiao Qing 娇庆

Papa Jiao Qing 娇庆, as stable as always^ I have to say he was very chilled out this visit and I think he spent 75% of his time asleep XD And most often that was in a huge pile of bamboo, so I could see a glimpse of a paw at best. But he did get up a few times across the few days and treat me to a few nice views. He didn’t really go out very much, just a quick walk outside, a small circle, and then back inside. There’s a few of these pictures where I can really see his looks in the boys in my photos of them from my February 2025 trip to China.

Meng Meng 梦梦, Leni (Meng Hao 梦好) + Lotti (Meng Tian 梦甜)

So excited to have my second visit with Leni 梦好 and Lotti 梦甜, and of course mama Meng Meng 梦梦! I think this might be the first time I’ve returned so quickly to see cubs – and how much they’ve grown in the 4 months since my last visit. They’re a lot more independent now, but Meng Meng is still keeping them in check and making sure they know who’s boss^ I think I got super lucky with my viewing on these days – the weather was pretty good (apart from an afternoon rain shower, which Lotti insisted on staying outside for most of!) and all three of them were mostly in the show den or outside for the majority of the time. I also didn’t think it was too busy either, I didn’t struggle to get a good spot when I wanted one. There were private tours on both mornings, so viewing opened around 9:30AM – so lucky and on Friday when I walked up the three of them were rolling around and playing together. The twins also had lots of playing time together and did give Meng Meng plenty of ‘me time’ with her bamboo^ The twins are showing interest in bamboo, but not quite eating it yet, it’s so cute to watch them giving branches and leaves a bit of a chew. They were also full of energy, lots of running around after each other, rolling around and climbing. Seeing Lotti outside though was a definite highlight. However the best moments for sure were when it was baby panda bedtime – at the end of the day the keepers had the task of getting the twins into the back den, and boy was it a task! On the first day the guy was trying for over an hour to entice Lotti inside off her platform, and she was having such fun with it XD She would look like she was ready to go in, then run off to the back of the platform again. Eventually enough was enough and he picked her up and carried her inside which was just adorable^ On the second day it seemed much easier, it was a different keeper and maybe Lotti knew she couldn’t get away with as much playing! The keeper however managed to get Leni to come down off her favourite perch and come outside too for some exercise, so I got to see both of them out together and getting some treats, then they followed the keeper inside one by one, just so cute too^ But the cuteness didn’t stop there, because once they were inside they got some more panda cake through the door, seeing them standing up to receive it was also super adorable, and I was so lucky to be in the right place at the right time to get photos of that – one of these has been my phone background photo since then!

And I definitely got to see plenty of Meng Meng too, she does appreciate her quiet time off show, but she sat out plenty of times to enjoy her bamboo and keep the twins in line – I don’t have a lot of photos of her from my previous visits so I’m quite glad to add some more to my collection.
