Ya’an Bifengxia Giant Panda Base – Overseas Panda Paradise (pt.1)

Introducing the second area of the Ya’an Bifengxia Giant Panda Base, the Overseas Panda Paradise! While a number of the pandas living here were born overseas, there are some who weren’t, nevertheless, this is the biggest area of the base with many pandas to see. This is also the furthest away area, we took the bus to get here – it’s a long walk and you don’t want to waste any time when you could be seeing pandas instead of walking! There are three different sections to this area, the main large one with five enclosures, a smaller one with three enclosures (although only two were viewable), and a second with three enclosures of which I found two to be more tricky to view (and was also the trickiest to get to, it was a bit of a walk and a lot of stairs). China Diaries: May 2024 #3 ~ Getting to Ya’an Bifengxia Giant Panda Base

On my fourth day in China, it was finally time to visit Ya’an Bifengxia Giant Panda Base for the very first time! Before planning this trip, I really didn’t think getting to this base was ever a possibility for me. It seemed very far away from Chengdu, it didn’t seem hugely accessible, and it seemed like it was a several hour bus journey which didn’t sound good at all! But, when Yang Guang and Tian Tian were moved here after their 12-year stay in Edinburgh I really started thinking about how to make it work. I was very happy to wear my Edinburgh Zoo panda shirt for my visit. I already posted about getting to Ya’an itself, but read on to hear my experience in getting to the base itself:

What I ate at Shanghai Disneyland in May 2024 – ranked!

I briefly chatted what themed snacks I ate from the new Zootopia land at Shanghai Disneyland, now I’m ranking everything I ate during my 1.75 days of visiting! I also mentioned what I ate on my first and second trips and I don’t *think* I repeated anything apart from one item. Compared with how much I ate on those previous trips, I think I might have over-eaten on this trip because I really wanted to get loads in, oops! But so far, I’ve not really found any ‘bad’ food items at Shanghai Disneyland!
