Worlds first WORLD OF FROZEN at Hong Kong Disneyland, May 2024+February 2025

The Frozen franchise is one of my favourites – so the worlds first themed land, the WORLD OF FROZEN, deserved it’s own post! This land was definitely a deciding factor in making a return visit to Hong Kong Disneyland within a year of my first visit – I was first there 6 months after the opening of the new land on my May 2024 trip, and had such a great time that I then returned just after the 1st anniversary on my February 2025 trip. Let’s get on in to this fantastic land:

The World of Frozen has 2 rides, 1 entertainment venue, 3 places to buy food, 1 shop for merchandise and plenty of space for outdoor experiences. The land also has 2 entrances, both off of Fantasyland – one comes off behind the carousel and Dumbo, taking you under the railway track and the ‘official’ land entrance sign, the other comes next to Small World. While I take the entrance past the sign for photos, I do also like the option of starting at the Small World side, or leaving via that side as I found it to be a bit quieter that way.

On both trips I’ve done both rides and I really enjoy them – riding the version of Frozen Ever After here was my first experience of the ride (the same version is also at EPCOT and coming soon to Adventure World, formerly Studios Park at Disneyland Paris) and it’s such a good ride. Love the storytelling, it’s got all the elements to it and it summarises the movie plot pretty well in just a couple of minutes. The animatronics were good and the ride was smooth, you could tell it was newly done. Then there is Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs which is a fun little family coaster, and as someone who doesn’t want too much thrill, it’s perfect for me albeit is a little on the short side (I think maybe 30 seconds). The queue theming was amazing on both rides, but of course, the little ‘sauna’ that Oaken is in in his ride was entertaining and a perfect touch. I went on both rides multiple times during the early entry hour (a paid extra), during the day the lines were the longest in the park for rides. I wouldn’t realistically join the line for either if it was longer than 15 or 20 minutes. On my first trip I also did the Playhouse in the Woods experience, which is kind of like an Anna and Elsa meet and greet, but not an individual experience with the characters. You enter and Anna comes out and talks for a little, then Olaf appears, and then you help to summon Elsa. Anna and Elsa went through the crowd and you learnt more about the elements from Frozen 2 and chose one, with different effects happening around the room. And then it ‘snowed’. It was cute, definitely aimed at the younger audience and I personally wouldn’t do it again, but glad I experienced it. The characters to also roam in the land, so I saw Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Oaken and Mossy the baby troll – and I really liked how this was done, and I found they were never too crowded, it was always a bit of a surprise when they suddenly appeared!

What to eat

There are 3 places to get food in World of FrozenForest Fare, a snack cart selling pre-packaged ice creams, Northern Delights which is more like a bakery/to-go option, and the Golden Crocus Inn which is a quick service restaurant. I’ve not bought a snack from Forest Fare, but have enjoyed eating at both Northern Delights and the Golden Crocus Inn. The menus for both locations were pretty much the same on both of my visits, with just some small changes e.g. the very sweet little donuts have a different design now and the vegetarian mushroom pasta dish I think has changed a little.

I’ve eaten a lot from Northern Delights, for sure my favourite snack location in the park – who can resist an Olaf themed ice cream?! Certainly not me, I’ve had one every day I’ve been in the park XD It’s a nice light ice cream, with chocolate arms and buttons, along with a marshmallow Olaf face. For me it’s a must-eat every time^ The donuts were also tasty, I think when I got them in May 2024 one had a small jam filling, not sure if they still have that, but they were yummy and sweet, again something I can’t resist. The Olaf carrot cake was also delicious and was a perfect size, so I could still eat more snacks after, I would have had that again this year, however on my second visit they had new cheesecakes, so I got the Olaf lemon cheesecake which was also lovely and I liked that it wasn’t too sweet at all (it was breakfast on this occasion XD). They did have a couple of other cheesecakes as well, one was Bruni, but I don’t remember the flavours.

I’ve eaten in the Golden Crocus Inn on both visits, the first time I went for lunch and had the mushroom pasta, alongside a side of meatballs, and the famous blue Fanta – I’m sad the Fanta wasn’t available this year when I went because it was really good, a nice light peach flavour. The pasta was ok, a generous portion size and it did taste good, but I think maybe a little too heavy on the mushrooms (I also had mushrooms for dinner the night before!). The side of meatballs however was very tasty, they came with mashed potatoes and a gravy, and I really liked this – on my second visit I got these as an afternoon snack, the portion for me felt between that of a side and a main dish, so could easily eat this alongside something else small.

What to buy

The Tick Tock Toys and Collectibles shop is the main store in the land, and of course only contains Frozen merchandise! It is quite a small shop and as it’s the exit for Frozen Ever After, was usually always very busy. However you can get most of the Frozen items at the main stores on Main Street, USA too (and they have super cute Frozen themed window displays^). They really have a bit of everything here, plenty of toys and dress-up costumes for kids, but also shirts and sweaters for adults in a range of designs, along with Spirit Jerseys, and of course ears and headbands. Plus they have all the Frozen pins, keychains and fridge magnets – there are so many designs to choose from, I may or may not have most of them … XD I love the mystery pin boxes, I’ve lost count of how many I’ve gotten over my visits, but last time these were 50% off. My favourite thing I’ve bought though is my Hong Kong Disneyland exclusive Frozen Pandora charm – it’s Anna and Elsa sitting in a little sleigh, with Hong Kong Disneyland written on one side and World of Frozen on the other – super cute and I wear it everyday on my Pandora bracelet, so for me it was worth the money! And mugs, can’t forget the mugs, I always pick one up from a Disney trip so on both trips I got Frozen ones – the 1st anniversary mug is very pretty, a gold design on white, and it stacks well with mugs from the other lands.
